Do you test your GFCI receptacles?
Do you know often you should be testing and resetting your GFCI outlets? You are not alone; many people don't know you often you should, and even different manufacturers have had different requirements throughout the years. Leviton who makes lots of electrical equipment says
"Press the TEST button (then RESET button) every month to assure proper operation. If the Indicator light does not go out and come back on or if the GFCI cannot be reset, then it must be replaced."
I have been inspecting homes for almost 20 years and have not met anyone that says they follow these guidelines. I strongly suggest checking per manufacturers recommendations to help protect you and your family.
